How To Get Involved
Volunteers enable the success of the New Zealand Masters Games. The energy and attitudes of our volunteers help to make NZMG a great experience for all.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, meet new people and learn new skills. There is a role for everyone, no matter your skill set or schedule or if you are a seasoned volunteer or its your first time.
Our volunteers are well looked after during our games, with access to all NZMG events.
We are no longer accepting volunteer applications.
Volunteer Roles
Pre-Games Week
There are opportunities available for volunteers during Pre-Games Week. These roles involve assisting coordinators with setting up, organizing, and promoting NZMG 2026.
Games Hub - Registration/Help Desk
The registration desk is the first line of support for competitors when they arrive at the Games Hub. Volunteers stationed here will assist with all aspects of registration, competitor check-ins, and provide help with any registration or competitor-related issues.
Games Hub - Hub Helpers (Sports and Info)
Hub Helpers is the second wave of assistance after initial registration. Volunteers in this role will ensure that competitors and spectators receive their NZMG bags, sport information, and all other relevant materials required for their entered sports.
Games Hub - Host
Volunteer hosts serve as the welcome committee for the Games Hub and act as ambassadors for the Games and Dunedin. They will maintain a visible presence around the Hub, welcoming, assisting, and directing NZMG participants.
Games Floaters
Floaters are volunteers who move across different teams depending on needs and demand. No two days will look the same, so select this role if you’re keen to be involved in a wide variety of volunteer tasks.
Games - Sport Helpers and Assistants
Sports Helpers/Assistants support sports coordinators across various events. Tasks may include timekeeping, setup and pack-down, and recording results.
Drivers / Transport
Volunteers in the Driver/Transport team must hold a full NZ Driver’s Licence. They will be on an on-call roster based at the Games Hub, responsible for driving the 11-seater van and transporting equipment, competitors, and other NZMG participants as needed. They may also support the Games Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Sports Coordinator.
Signage Team
The Signage Team will consist of selected volunteers who help promote NZMG around Dunedin by putting up promotional and directional signage.
Medal Ceremonies
Medal Ceremony volunteers will assist coordinators with setup and preparation for the ceremony at the end of Games Week. They’ll be an extra set of hands onsite, ready to help as needed.
