We are so excited about welcoming you to Whanganui in February 2017 for the 28th New Zealand Masters Games. And, when you arrive, you will experience something new.
If you live in Whanganui, you may have heard the news that the Opening Ceremony will be at Cooks Gardens on Friday 3 February 2017. This is where you have the chance to fly the flag to promote participation and demonstrate passion for your sport. It is also about celebrating the idea and ideals around New Zealand Masters Games where competition among friends is relished. We will also welcome our international competitors and Whanganui Sister Cities who may wish to fly their country flag.
We are thrilled with the initiative to re-fresh The Games. The Village is now located at the War Memorial Centre in the heart of Whanganui’s CBD. The forecourt will be filled with food, beverages and products, while inside, you will find entertainment, free educational seminars, a selection of sports, social activities and check-in.
You will recognise some of the team who have helped make NZMG a tremendous success to date, and we will introduce you to the new people who will make the 2017 Games even better! So, over the next several months, please expect to meet the team of staff, volunteers and sponsors who make NZMG such a fabulous event.
As the new CEO of NZMG 2017 and Events Whanganui, I have the best job on the planet - to help make the event the world-class success that it can be. I can only do this with your help. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
My wish for you is that you have a fun, magical and memorable, safe and winning time in Whanganui. Please pass this on to friends, family, colleagues and neighbours who will enjoy the experience of NZMG.
